SUMMERLANDS CHUFFERS

Hunslet 'Jack' and Waril Videos

Brian Wilson's project, as serialised in Garden rail magazine is for the 18" gauge Jack, but the Hunslet Waril class is very similar - though a bit larger. These videos show a number of videos of the Jack and Waril type.

First we have five videos of Brian's own Jack, built to the design serialised in Garden Rail. This loco has additional radio control, an SSP Slomo, a Summerlands Chufffer and Brian's own, opening spectacles on the cab front. This loco also has a radio controlled whistle fitted.

Here we have three videros ofIan Folland's superb Waril type loco. First running on Ralph Pitcher's awesome Cathedral Mountain Railway and then at the Summerlands Light Railway. This Waril uses the Roundhouse chassis but has an Accucraft Edrig boiler. Ian did not build the loco, but did modify it and appy the superb weathering.

This Jack is a one-off, built by Ray Wybourne and extensively modified by James Gilchrist. It was running a bit fast so the video is played at half speed. For those starting in 7/8ths, the simple rolling stock is very quick and cheap to build. You can find the details here.

Here is one of Brian's coal fired Jacks - making a fine chuff!

And here is the Summerlands built Jack!! On the left he is manual, in the middle  he has radio control and a whistle fitted, and on the right he is now Lizzie and running at the Dingle Leigh Railway. Below he is back at the SLR in Nov 2017.
